Maracas collection
Spring registration is open!
Join us for the Maracas collection this spring! You and your children will love the energy of this collection. We'll move and groove to "Ha Ha This-a-Way" (made famous by Lead Belly Ledbetter) and "All Around the Kitchen," get silly with "Wiggle!" and "Hop Old Squirrel," feel jazzy with "Doodle" and "Play the Drum," and explore songs from Latin America, Greece, and France - and much more!
As always, grownups are indispensable to our musical time together; our emphasis is on the caregiver-to-child relationship. Small children are not expected to focus; rather, they are encouraged to respond spontaneously to the musical environment. We use singing, movement, rhythmic chants, instrument play, and lots of other ways to express ourselves musically during class. Children are welcome to move around the room, sit and watch, or dance while we're sitting. As long as their grownups are engaged in making music, the children are learning by their role model that music-making is a fun and valuable family activity.
The cost for the ten week session is $225 for one child and $100 for additional siblings. Siblings younger than one and older than five attend for free. New families please add a one-time new family registration fee of $10. Community center pricing may be different.
